Knockaround

Sunglasses & Accessories

Affordable glasses for the masses

Category: Branding, Product Design, Packaging, Illustration, Photography

Objective:

Oversee design and production of all products for Knockaround, a sunglasses, and accessories company that balances the laid-back lifestyle of SoCal with a homage to classic East Coast prep. The demographic is about 75% male/25% female within the 21-35-year-old range. The sunglasses are affordable and stylish with a unique "knock em' around" approach, which resonates throughout the brand.

Solution:

Creativity is the base of any fashion or accessories company. In creating the visual aesthetic for the brand you are essentially molding the brand itself. With this creativity, comes a lot of research and development. It was important for me to have a solid idea of what other like-minded companies were producing and had created through fashion history. This generates a true understanding of what has and has not worked and allows individuals to bring old concepts to life in a new way while avoiding recycling concepts completely. The collections held strong to the laid-back lifestyle of the west coast while merging the classic East Coast prep style that embodies the spirit of Knockaround and the roots from which it came.

Special Releases come in sets and include a uniquely designed pair of sunglasses, a custom pouch, box, insert item and collector's card–and are highly coveted by Knockaround fans. Over the years I have designed more than 50 Limited Editions and Collaborations, all of which have sold out (some selling out in just minutes). These are some of my favorite Special Releases to date.

Seasonal graphics and accessories comprised of various themes and concepts. All designs were created and established the design framework for Knockaround’s brand. In addition to product, apparel, and marketing asset design, he worked with outside vendors and creative professionals to help coordinate the many moving pieces needed for larger product releases.
